What’s new at this year’s event?

This year’s Soaring: Youth Empowerment Gathering will be held entirely online for the first time and will be available to Indigenous students from around the country! To participate, we ask that educators, parents, and guardians register their individual students, groups, or entire classes for this exciting and free event. Hosted by the one and only Stan Wesley, Soaring will include informative spotlight sessions, panel discussions, entertainment, and a virtual tradeshow featuring over 25 booths from Canada’s leading post-secondary institutions and top employers. Over the two day event, students will enjoy an action-packed schedule with a variety of options to create their own Soaring experience. About Soaring: Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering

At Soaring, Indigenous high school students learn about career and post-secondary education options by participating in a variety of diverse workshops. They’ll also have access to resources to help support their post-secondary journey and meet with Canada’s top employers. In 2020, over 600 Indigenous students and their chaperones attended Soaring in Ottawa, Ontario.

Attendees experienced engaging workshops from notable speakers, a tradeshow floor showcasing a variety of post-secondary and career opportunities, and performances from talented Indigenous artists. Click the button below to see highlights from last year’s event:

What can students expect?



By attending exciting spotlight sessions, panel discussions, and performances from our special guests and event sponsors, students have the opportunity to learn about their post-secondary options



We have over 25 tradeshow booths where students can watch videos, collect swag, chat with booth representatives, and access helpful resources.



Take part in live quizzes, a scavenger hunt, and a leaderboard that rewards students who engage the most with a variety of great prizes.
